Boxycharm September 2018 Unboxing and First Impressions

Hi dolls!  Today, I’ll be reviewing the contents of September’s Boxycharm!  You can find my review on August’s Boxycharm here.  Boxycharm is my favorite beauty subscription box that provides 5-6 full-sized items for $21/month.  What I love about Boxycharm is that the value of all the luxury products always well exceed the $21 price (sign up here).

September’s theme is Wild Flower and comes with 5 products.Boxycharm September 2018 Unboxing and First Impressions

  1. Pretty Vulgar Nightingale Smokey Eyeshadow Palette – $35 (Buy here)

Pretty Vulgar Nightingale Eyeshadow PalettePretty Vulgar Nightingale Eyeshadow PaletteMade up of 12 highly pigmented shades, the Nightingale Palette is sure to help you create your best looks.  The matte, shimmer, and satin shades are soft in texture and the luxuriously smooth formula makes for easy blending and long-wear (excerpt).  To be completely honest, when I first got this palette, I had zero interest in using it.  I don’t gravitate towards cool-toned eyeshadows as I feel it clashes with my warm complexion and washes me out.  I’m still not gungho about the shade selection, but the formula of this palette is admittedly, very good.  The shadows are creamy, pigmented, blend beautifully on the eyes and there is a nice range of matte and shimmer shades.  It all comes down to personally preference, but the palette in itself performs very well.Pretty Vulgar Nightingale Eyeshadow Palette SwatchesMakeup Look Using Products from September's Boxycharm

  1. Laura Gellar Baked Blush-n-Brighten in Tropic Hues – $28 (Buy here)

Laura Gellar Baked Blush-n-Brighten in Tropic HuesLaura Gellar Baked Blush-n-Brighten in Tropic HuesAdd a gorgeous, glowy flush to your cheeks with this baked blush.  Stunning swirls of liquid pigments are baked in Italy for 24 hours on teracotta tiles and hand-finished into a silky dome of powder.  This smooth and longwearing formula is paraben-free, and infused with skin-loving antioxidants (excerpt).  I love Laura Geller baked products and this blush is no exception.  The peachy pink blusher has swirls of finely milled shimmer that gives cheeks a beautiful, luminous glow.  The formula is soft, pigmented, and looks so pretty on its own that I don’t have to add a highlighter on top.Laura Gellar Baked Blush-n-Brighten in Tropic Hues Swatches

  1. Alamar Cosmetics Ojitos Brush Set – $18 (Buy Here)

Alamar Cosmetics Ojitos Brush SetMade with 100% synthetic fibers, these brushes are extremely soft, durable, and essential to your brush collection.  The flat painter brush effortlessly applies color onto your lids, while the fluffy blender brush can be used to seamlessly blend colors together.  The flat tight liner brush is perfect for direct color application on your lash lines (excerpt).  This is such a cute set of eye brushes.  I love the fun, bright handles while the synthetic brushes are super soft and apply shadows beautifully.

  1. Lorac Pro Liquid Lipstick in Dusty Rose – $19 (Buy Here)

Lorac Pro Liquid Lipstick in Dusty RoseWith the smooth glide of a gloss and the high pigment of a lipstick, this creamy, lightweight and longlasting PRO formula coats the lips in bold color that dries down to a comfortable matte finish (exerpt).  Holy Toledo, this liquid lipstick does not mess around when it comes to longevity.  I swatched this for photos in the morning and had to scrub it off at the end of the night.  Once it sets, it does not budge.  The formula is also really nice, creamy, pigmented and non-drying despite the matte finish.  Dusty Rose describes this shade perfectly.Lorac Pro Liquid Lipstick in Dusty Rose Swatches

  1. Butter London Stroke of Wow Roll On Liner in Pitch Black – $19 (Buy Here)

Butter London Stroke of Wow Roll On Liner in Pitch BlackCreate precise, ultra-fine winged liner looks with this innovative liquid liner.  The ergonomic handle gives you insane control while creating your liner looks.  The roll-on applicator does all the work for you while deilvering pitch-black pigment that meets even your boldest standards (exerpt).  I love a good liquid liner so I was excited to give this a go.  The rollerball concept is unique and sounds way cool to me.  Unfortunately, the application itself is a dud for me.  The roller drags on my lids and makes it very difficult to draw a smooth, precise wing.  It ends up looking patchy on the eye and is far more trouble than just using a standard brush or felt tip. Did you enjoy your Boxycharm?  Which products are you most excited to test out?

Mary Dee
