Boxycharm October 2016 Unboxing

Happy November, loves!  I do apologize for the late posts as my Atlanta trip set me back on my beauty subscription posts.  Thank you for bearing with me while I play catch up!  Let’s get right to it by diving into October’s Boxycharm!  Boxycharm is my favorite beauty subscription box that provides 5-6 full-sized items for $21/month.  What I love about Boxycharm is that the value of all the luxury products always well exceed the $21 price.

October’s theme is Boxy Bazaar and comes with 5 products.

  1. Briogeo Blow Dry Perfection Heat Protectant – $24 (briogeohair.com)

img_20161105_211049A weightless blow-dry finishing and heat protectant cream formulate without parabens, sulfates, and phthalates.  Naturally fortified with rosehip, argan, and coconut oils, it protects agianst heat damage up to 425F, smooths hair and tames frizz, and enhances shine and softness (excerpt).  This heat protectant cream smells divine, very fresh and citrusy.  I don’t blowdry often so for myself, I would apply this to my damp hair, let it airdry, and then curl it.

  1. Temptu Shimmer Bronzer – $29.50 (temptu.com)

img_20161105_211208S/B Bronzers have a silicone-based formula and are oil free, non-comedogenic, and hypoallergenic.  Bronze and contour the complexion with this beautiful shimmer finish (excerpt).  I was relieved to find out that this bronzer has a very slight iridescence and not full on glitter.  The liquid blends very easily on the skin and the shade is actually dark enough to show up against my golden/tan complexion.  Rather than contouring as the product suggests, I prefer to mix this into my BB Cream to match my skintone when I’m more tanned.

  1. Luxie Beauty Eye Blender Brush Pack – $36 (luxiebeauty.com)

img_20161105_211930We collaborated with Luxie to bring you this fabulous Eye Blender 3-piece set!  These cruelty free brushes are extremely soft and gentle enough for all skin types.  An antibacterial coating helps keep the brushes clean and fresh.  Blending your favorite shadows will be a breeze (excerpt).  I’ve received Luxie brushes in Ipsy bags before and was thoroughly impressed with their quality and performance.  They work wonderfully and maintain their shape even after many brush cleanings.  I love this selection they put together.   Can you ever have enough eyeshadow blending brushes?  I think not 😉

  1. IBY Beauty Threes Company Trio Eye Shadow – $19 (ibybeauty.com)

img_20161105_211447These three “must have shades” are prefect for fast and easy eyeshadow contouring.  Use the trio to brighten and define your eyes and make them appear dramatically bigger (exerpt).  This is a selection of very wearable, neutral shades, encased in a sturdy plastic compact, that comes with a mirror and eyeshadow applicator (that no one ever really uses).  There is one shimmery champagne highlight, one shimmer copper, and one matte crease shade.  While they are beautiful colors, these light shades do not provide enough definition and impact, especially against my tan skintone.  I think they could be coupled with other shadows for a complete look, but standalone, they are not practical for me.  Additonally, the $19 pricetag is a bit steep for 3 eyeshadows.

  1. Cargo BeachBlush in Echo Beach– $30 (cargocosmetics.com)

img_20161105_211653Four harmonious shade stripes blend together on the skin for perfectly balanced cheek color with a radiant warmth (exerpt).   This is a beautiful, neutral, peachy pink blush for everyday.  I love the adorable round tin packaging it comes in as well!

Overall Rating:  I would give this month’s Boxycharm a rating of 7/10.  October’s Boxycharm has a combined value of $138.50 (!), which far exceeds the $21 price tag, making it a great value.  Additionally, it had a nice selection of products from a range of different categories (tools, haircare, eye, cheek).  My favorite products of the bunch are the Luxie Eye Brushes and Cargo BeachBlush 😉

Did you enjoy your Boxycharm?  Which products are you most excited to test out?

XO,

Mary Dee
