Boxycharm Boxyluxe September 2019 Unboxing and Review

Ciao bella!  Today, I will be sharing my review of September’s Boxyluxe!  Boxyluxe is a quarterly upgrade of $28.99 on top of your regular Boxycharm subscription.  So if you decide to opt in, instead of receiving the standard Boxycharm, you’ll receive a larger box with additional full sized items that month.  You can find additional information about Boxyluxe here and sign up here.Boxycharm Boxyluxe September 2019 Unboxing and ReviewSeptember’s theme was All Access and came with 8 products.Boxycharm Boxyluxe September 2019 Unboxing and Review

1. Violet Voss Essentials Eyeshadow Palette – $29 (Buy here)Violet Voss Essentials Eyeshadow Palette Violet Voss Essentials Eyeshadow PaletteThis was my first time trying Violet Voss eyeshadows and I found their formula to be creamy, fairly pigmented, and blendable.  This is overall a nice, cohesive palette for a makeup beginner.  However, for a makeup lover or avid eyeshadow palette collector, there is nothing groundbreaking, in my opinion.Violet Voss Essentials Eyeshadow Palette

2. Dr Brandt Hydro Biotic Recovery Sleeping Mask – $52 (Buy here)Dr Brandt Hydro Biotic Recovery Sleeping MaskI think skincare has become my favorite product to receive in Boxycharm.  I incorporated this as the last step of my night time skincare routine and found it helped alleviate the dry patches around my nose.  I’ve only used this Sleeping Mask once so I can’t vouch for its long term effects, but overall, I enjoyed the fresh scent and light gel texture.

3. Hank and Henry Blickity Black Eye Liner – $20 (Buy Here)Hank and Henry Blickity Black Eye Liner Hank and Henry Blickity Black Eye LinerI’m very picky about my liquid liners and haven’t had much luck with pens, as they always seem too blunt and dry out way too quickly.  This Hank and Henry formula is pitch black, glides on easily, and dries down matte, but I was most impressed with the brush tip, which works amazingly well for creating a sharp, precise wing.Hank and Henry Blickity Black Eye Liner

4. Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick – $22 (Buy Here)Stila Stay All Day Liquid LipstickWhile Stila Liquid Lipsticks don’t have the most hydrating formula, I generally enjoy them as they are pigmented, long-lasting, and come in a range of beautiful shades.  I personally don’t like shimmery or metallic lip products whatsoever, so I know I will never reach for this dusty rose, Patina Shimmer shade.  For that reason, I will be passing this along.Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick

5. Tarte Park Ave Princess Chisel Palette – $45 (Buy Here)Tarte Park Avenue Princess Chisel Palette Tarte Park Avenue Princess Chisel PaletteHow gorgeous is this Tarte palette?!  I love the ultra chic packaging, complete with a full mirror, while the sturdy all-in-one compact makes it travel friendly as well.  The formula of the setting and bronzer/contour powders are creamy, blendable, and as a bonus, they smell like yummy chocolate 😍 I have been reaching for this palette every single day since receiving it in this box.Tarte Park Avenue Princess Chisel Palette

6. Sunday Riley Tidal Brightening Enzyme Water Cream – $65 (Buy Here)Sunday Riley Tidal Brightening Enzyme Water CreamWater/gel based creams typically don’t provide enough moisture for my personal liking, but I’m so impressed with how hydrating this leaves my skin despite its lightweight texture.  It absorbs quickly without any tackiness and has a fresh cucumber-esque scent. I’ve been using this as my day and nighttime moisturizer Sunday Riley Tidal Brightening Enzyme Water Cream

7. Sutra Clipless Curling Iron with Cool Tip – $65 (Buy Here)Sutra Clipless Curling Iron with Cool TipI love my NUMI Curling Wands so I was ready to pass on this Sutra Clipless Curling Iron, as there isn’t a temperature control or even a little light to indicate when it’s heated to its optimum temperature.  Still, I gave it a go and was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to use, even without a protective glove.  The cool tip actually makes a huge difference in preventing burns.  I haven’t burned myself once (knock on wood) and the bouncy curls last days in between washings.

8. IGK Mistress Hydrating Balm – $25 (Buy Here)IGK Mistress Hydrating BalmHair balms with this gel texture typically leave my hair feeling sticky, but this is surprisingly lightweight.  It has a fresh scent and absorbs quickly without weighing my hair down.  I still prefer a hair oil for frizz control, but I will happily use this as a hair protectant before I go swimming.

Overall Rating: I was happy with September’s Boxyluxe, so I’m giving it a rating of 8/10 stars.  September’s box had a combined value of $323.  Even though there were products I was initially ready to pass on, they came through and surprised me with their performance.  My favorite picks of the batch are the Tarte Park Ave Princess Chisel Palette, Sunday Riley Tidal Water Cream, and Sutra Curling Iron.

Did you enjoy your Boxyluxe?  Which products are you most excited to test out?

XO,

Mary Dee
