Boxycharm April 2020 Spoilers and Review

Today, I’m sharing with you my review of April’s Boxycharm Base Box!  You can find my review of April’s Boxycharm Premium here or March’s Boxyluxe here.  Boxycharm is my favorite beauty subscription box that provides 5 full-sized items for $25/month.  Boxycharm Premium is a tier above the Base box, and provides 6-7 full-sized items for $35/month.  You can subscribe to both the Premium and Base box simultaneously, and receive different items in each box.  What I like about Boxycharm is that the value of all the luxury products always well exceed the price (sign up here).Boxycharm April 2020 Spoilers Unboxing and ReviewApril’s theme is Festival Vibes, and comes with 5 products.Boxycharm April 2020 Spoilers Unboxing and Review

  1. Benefit Cosmetics The POREfessional Face Primer – $32 (Buy here)

Benefit Cosmetics The POREfessional Face PrimerThe POREfessional Pro Balm works to reduce the appearance of pores and fine lines for smoother-than-smooth looking skin. Apply this silky, lightweight balm alone, or under or over makeup. Translucent, no-oil formula complements all skintones and helps makeup stay put (amazon.com). This Benefit primer initially dispenses as a beige cream that becomes translucent once massaged into the skin.  It has a silicone-y, almost powdery consistency, which blurs imperfections and mattifies the skin, even when you are wearing it on its own.  I do have to make sure to moisturize well before applying this primer, as it can be a bit drying.  That said, it does a great job of filling in large pores, particularly around my nose area, so foundation doesn’t settle into them. Foundation glides on top like butter, doesn’t emphasize pores or texture, and appears much smoother. However, I have gotten so many samples of this primer in subscription boxes over the years that I am convinced they are just giving these away at this point.

  1. Elemis Superfood Cica Calm Cleansing Foam – $32 (Buy here)

Elemis Superfood Cica Calm Cleansing FoamPacked with fermented Superfoods and formulated with Micellar Technology, this soothing foaming cleanser easily removes all traces of makeup and impurities, leaving the complexion looking calm, balanced and fresh (amazon.com). I quite enjoy the clean scent and fun bright packaging of this cleanser. The foam formula bubbles up to a rich lather and leaves my skin feeling ultra clean, though a little on the drying side, especially for those with already parched skin. I do like this cleanser and will happily finish the bottle. I just have to make sure to hydrate my skin right after cleansing.

  1. Iconic London Illuminator – $41 (Buy Here)

Iconic London IlluminatorIconic London IlluminatorIconic London’s concentrated liquid shimmer Illuminator can be added to your foundation, primer or moisturiser, or simply used on its own for a super highlighted glow. Every drop of this super-concentrated shimmer elixir glides on smoothly to bestow ultra-blendable glow (ulta.com). I have been favoring liquid and cream products so these highlighter drops are right up my alley. This is essentially liquid metal. It gives skin the prettiest sheen that is quickly buildable to an intense glow, if so desired. My favorite way to apply this is to put one drop on my hand, then bounce my Juno Velvet Sponge (buy here) into it, and apply to my cheekbones. I’ve found this method applies it most evenly, without lifting my foundation or concealer below. A tiny bit of this goes a long way so this bottle will last me forever. 1. Lavish 5pc Neon Eye Brush Collection – $29.99 (Buy Here)

Lavish 5pc Neon Eye Brush CollectionA must have all-in-one cruelty free makeup brush collection that includes essential eye brushes you’ll need to achieve an everyday or more dramatic look (boxycharm.com). Admittedly, I was ready to pass on these brushes, but I was totally sucked in by the cool neon colors. The bright pops of highlighter colors are so fun! All the brushes feel well made and have soft bristles that blend out shadows beautifully. My favorites of the bunch are the Eyeliner (yellow) and Eyebrow Brush (green).Lavish 5pc Neon Eye Brush Collection

  1. The Original Makeup Eraser in Sunset – $22 (Buy Here)

The Original Makeup Eraser in SunsetMakeUp Eraser is made up of millions of tiny hairlike fibers that stand straight up and when wet, work together to reach and suction all makeup, dirt and oil out of each individual pore. The Original MakeUp Eraser is a premium, plush, polyester blend designed for sensitive skin and dermatologist approved (amazon.com). A microfiber cloth that promises to remove all your makeup without the use of liquid makeup remover or micellar water? Sounds too good to be true right? While this ultra soft cloth does a great job of removing face makeup with just water, I find that it struggles with my more stubborn eye makeup. It takes a bit more patience and elbow grease to remove my waterproof liquid liner and mascara, which I feel defeats the purpose, if I’m harshly tugging at the delicate skin of my eyes. For that reason, I appreciate the unique concept of this Makeup Erase, but it will not be replacing my beloved Garnier Micellar Water (buy here). The Original Makeup Eraser in SunsetOverall Rating: I’m fairly satisfied with April’s Boxycharm, so I’m giving it a rating of 8/10 stars. April’s box has a combined value of $156.99. I am disappointed I received the wrong box variation as my choice item was the Elemis Hydration Juice, plus I was expecting the moisturizing Benefit Primer for very dry skin. I reached out to Boxycharm customer service and after about two weeks, they deposited the value of my choice item into my Charms account, which can be redeemed in their Charm room. I would have preferred receiving my original choice, but I appreciate their effort to atone for the mix up. My favorite picks of the batch are the Iconic London Illuminator and the Elemis Foam Cleanser.

Did you enjoy your Boxycharm?  Which products are you most excited to test out?

Mary Dee
