Boxycharm April 2018 Unboxing and First Impressions

Hi, y’all!  Greetings from sunny California! 👋 Today, I’ll be reviewing the contents of April’s Boxycharm!  I apologize for getting this review up so late in the month, but I have been super busy between home-buying (eeks!) and flying back to visit family in CA, to heading to the DR! 😅 Thank you for bearing with me!  You can find my review on March’s Boxycharm here.  Boxycharm is my favorite beauty subscription box that provides 5-6 full-sized items for $21/month.  What I love about Boxycharm is that the value of all the luxury products always well exceed the $21 price.

April’s theme is Eye Candy and comes with 5 products.Boxycharm April 2018 Unboxing and First Impressions

  1. Colourpop You Had Me At Hello Eyeshadow Palette – $18 (Buy here)

Colourpop You Had Me At Hello Eyeshadow Palette Review and SwatchesHighly pigmented shadow that applies evenly and feels ultra velvety and silky.  This long wearing formula contains a unique combination of softer powders which adheres easily to the eyes, gives a soft focus effect, and blends smoothly and evenly (excerpt).  I dedicated an entire blogpost review to this eyeshadow palette which you can find here.  But in short, I love this eyeshadow palette.  The formula is as buttery and pigmented as I’ve come to expect from Colourpop Pressed Eyeshadows.  I admit, when I first glanced at this palette, there was no particular shade that stood out to me, but as a whole, this is such a well thought out and complimentary palette.  I’m happy that they included a mirror which I don’t put much weight into, until I’m on the road and in need of one 😉 I give this palette two thumbs up and recommend it wholeheartedly.Colourpop You Had Me At Hello Eyeshadow Palette Review and SwatchesColourpop You Had Me At Hello Eyeshadow Palette Review and SwatchesColourpop You Had Me At Hello Eyeshadow Palette Swatches and Review

  1. Tarte Tarteist Pro Glow Liquid Highlighter in Sparkler – $29 (Buy here)

Tarte Tarteist Pro Glow Liquid Highlighter in SparklerTarte Tarteist Pro Glow Liquid Highlighter in Sparkler SwatchesGlow like a goddess with this creamy highlighter that builds from sheer to intense.  Ultra concentrated pigments and pearls are suspended in the hybrid gel-cream, oil free formula that you can mix with your liquid foundation, or wear alone for naturally lit luminosity.  Infused with rose water, it slips softly onto skin and keeps moisture in with tapered, squeezable packaging to put the highlight exactly where you want it (excerpt).  I was so excited for this product as I’m on a liquid/cream highlighter kick, but this was rather disappointing.  Sparkler is a beautiful champagne shade, but the formula was sub par.  It contains chunky glitters that apply very patchy with both a brush and beauty sponge.  I’ve tried more finely milled liquid highlighters from Wet n Wild and ELF.  For the $29 price tag, I’m gonna pass.Tarte Tarteist Pro Glow Liquid Highlighter in Sparkler Swatches

  1. Dr. Brandt Pores No More Vacuum Cleaner – $47 (Buy Here)

Dr. Brandt Pores No More Vacuum CleanerThis award winning, pore refining mask is an extraction specialist, unclogging and tightening the look of pores and reducing excess oil from the skin’s surface (excerpt).  I generally really enjoy Dr. Brandt’s products, and this pore purifying mask was no different.  Upon application, you can feel the immediate tingle which stays on for the duration of the treatment.  After about 20 minutes of the mask hardening and tightening, I rinsed it off to reveal baby soft skin.  It is definitely on the drying side so I recommend moisturizing right after if you have dry skin type like myself.

  1. The Browgal Instatint Tinted Brow Gel – $22 (Buy Here)

The Browgal Instatint Tinted Brow GelTinted eyebrow gel with microfibers to achieve a natural hair look.  Perfect for the customer who wants a quick, but natural fill to their brows (exerpt). I like the sleek packaging and how the small brush allows you to apply product evenly throughout the brows.  The tinted fibers help plump up the hair for fuller looking brows.   I personally like using this alone on light makeup days just to lightly fill in sparse areas and hold the hairs in place. The Browgal Instatint Tinted Brow Gel

  1. Adesse Hi Definition Liquid Lipstick in Haute Cocoa – $24 (Buy here)

Adesse Hi Definition Liquid Lipstick in Haute CocoaLuxurious, creamy, long wearing liquid lipstick.  Provides the dazzling, full coverage of a lipstick with the ease of wand applicator.  Made with advanced polymers and intense pigments for long lasting, brilliant color and intense shine in a single sweep (exerpt).  This liquid lipstick formula is thick and highly pigmented, coating the lips in an even coat of color with one layer.  Its hybrid formula allows you to have the opacity of a lipstick with the high shine finish of a gloss.  Haute Cocoa is a lovely terracotta nude with a yummy vanilla cake batter scent.Adesse Hi Definition Liquid Lipstick in Haute CocoaMakeup Look Using Products from Boxycharm April 2018Overall Rating:  I was very satisfied with April’s Boxycharm so I’m giving it a rating of 10/10 stars.  April’s box had a combined value of $140, and I really enjoyed the excellent product selection.  I was disappointed that I received a Colourpop Eyeshadow Palette that I already owned, but that doesn’t take away from its great quality or how well the other products performed.  My favorite picks of the batch are the You Had Me At Hello Palette and Dr. Brandt Pore Purifying Mask.

Did you enjoy your Boxycharm?  Which products are you most excited to test out?

Mary Dee
