August Monthly Empties and Reviews: Makeup, Skincare, Haircare

Happy Sunday, y’all! Today, I’m sharing with you my Product Empties from the month of August, encompassing makeup, skincare, and haircare. Each of these products will be accompanied by a mini review, and recommendation on whether or not I would repurchase.

MAKEUP

ELF Ultra Precise Brow Pencil in Brunette: This is a fantastic drugstore alternative to the ABH Brow Wiz for only $5.  The ultra slim tip makes it easy to draw precise strokes, while the spoolie blends the product out perfectly, and the formula lasts all day.  My only gripe with this brow pencil is that the shade Brunette has very red/ warm undertones.  I would go back and try Cool Brown or Neutral Brown instead. Essence Volume Stylist 18h Curl and Hold Mascara: I love Essence mascaras so I was excited to try this Curl and Hold version from the Volume Stylist line. The slim, curled brush does a good job of reaching shorter, hard to reach lashes in the inner and outer corners. However, I did not find that the formula held a curl for my stubbornly straight lashes. I much prefer the Essence Volume Stylist Lash Extension Mascara and would recommend that over this one instead. SKINCARE

Fresh Soy Face Cleanser: For a gel cleanser, this does not strip the skin of moisture or feel drying, whatsoever. It smells just like fresh cucumbers and rinses clean, without leaving any heavy residue. I LOVE this cleanser and already have backups ready to go. Buy here.

I’m From Rice Toner:  I dedicated an entire blogpost review to this toner, which you can read here. In short, this has become my holy grail toner that I highly recommend for all skin types. This ultra gentle toner has a beautiful formula that leaves my skin feeling clean, but glowy and hydrated. Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water: I saturate a cotton round with this magical elixir to remove all my makeup, from foundation to waterproof mascara.  It takes off everything and doesn’t dry out or irritate my skin whatsoever.  This is a holy grail item that I will continue to repurchase. HAIRCARE

Colab Dry Shampoo in Paradise:  I dedicated an entire blogpost review to these dry shampoos which you can read here. In short, these have given my beloved Batiste Dry Shampoo some serious competition. These freshen up second and third day hair, reviving volume, and soaking up greasy roots without leaving a gray cast.
