Play! by Sephora August 2018 Unboxing and First Impressions

Soooo, after an 8 month hiatus, I’ve resubscribed back to the Play! by Sephora Box!  I was disappointed by the overall product selection for awhile, but seeing the recent Play! Boxes was giving me FOMO, so here I am again 🙈 Play! is Sephora’s subscription service that provides 5 beauty samples plus 1 fragrance sample for $10/month (plus local taxes).

August’s theme was Beauty Schooled and the Play! Bag came with 6 products.Play! by Sephora August 2018 Unboxing and First ImpressionsAs usual, it included an insert with product descriptions/ directions and a Play! Pass, redeemable in Sephora stores for 50 extra Beauty Insider points with any purchase.Play! by Sephora August 2018 Unboxing and First Impressions

  1. Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Gel

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow GelA lightweight gel that defines brows and holds them in place all day (insert).   And oldie, but a goodie.  I don’t use brow gel everyday as I can’t be bothered with the extra step.  I will say though that this is like hairspray for my brows.  Once it sets, it doesn’t budge.Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Gel

  1. Benefit Cosmetics Hoola Matte Bronzer

Benefit Cosmetics Hoola Matte BronzerBenefit Cosmetics Hoola Matte BronzerA matte bronzer in a natural hue that blends easily for a sunkissed look (insert).  This is a beautiful bronzer for fair to medium/tan skin.  I thought it would be too light to show up on me, but it does give an all over glow.  The formula is creamy, pigmented, and blendable.  I like that it has neutral undertones, so it gives skin a natural bronze that is not too pink or orange toned.Benefit Cosmetics Hoola Matte Bronzer Swatches

  1. Make Up For Ever Artist Rouge Lipstick in C211

Make Up For Ever Artist Rouge Lipstick in C211A highly pigmented lipstick in a soft rosewood shade with a smooth satin finish (insert).  This lipstick formula is creamy, glides on buttery smooth, and gives opaque color with just one swipe across the lips.  I shy away from pink lipsticks, but C211 is a gorgeous mauvey rose that is perfect for everyday wear.  I would love to try these Artist Rouge Lipsticks again in a nude or red shade.Make Up For Ever Artist Rouge Lipstick in C211 Swatches

  1. Origins Original Skin Retexturizing Mask with Rose Clay

Origins Original Skin Retexturizing Mask with Rose ClayA purifying mask that deeply cleans and refnes pores for silky smooth skin (insert).  I’ve received this mask in a previous Influenster Voxbox (blogpost here).  This pink clay mask hardens on the skin and has little microbeads for some extra exfoliation as you rinse it off.  The treatment leaves my skin feeling smoother and brighter, but very tight.  I highly recommend this mask for those with normal to combination/oily skin as it may be too drying otherwise.

  1. Living Proof TBD Multi Tasking Styler

Living Proof TBD Multi Tasking StylerA versatile styling cream that can be used to define or smooth wet or dry hair (insert).  I don’t use styling cream, but I’m tempted to add this to the routine because it smells amazing.

  1. Ouai Repair Shampoo and Conditoner

Ouai Repair Shampoo and ConditonerA shampoo and conditioning duo that replensishes and nurtures for healthy-looking hair (insert).  I much prefer their perfume samples instead of these single-use haircare samples.  I just never get around to using these so I will be passing them along.

Overall Rating:  I was satisfied with August’s Sephora Play! Bag so I’m giving it a rating of 8/10 stars based on my first impressions.  Although I could have done without the haircare samples, I was happy with the other makeup products, which I will actually be putting to use.  For my first Play! box since resubscribing, I’m pretty happy.  I’m even considering keeping this subscription and canceling Ipsy.  What do you guys think?

What are your thoughts on the Sephora Play! Bag?  Which products were you most excited to test out?
