Ipsy June 2018 Glam Bag Unboxing and First Impressions

Howdy, y’all! Today, we will be going over the contents of June’s Ipsy Glam Bag! You can find my May Ipsy Glam Bag here. Ipsy is a beauty subscription service that provides 5-6 sample/full-sized items for $10/month. What I like about Ipsy is that the price encompasses shipping, and it regularly includes full sized products in a cute cosmetics bag (sign up here).June’s theme is Flying Colors and comes with 5 products in this blue striped pouch.

MAC Lipglass in C-Thru – Deluxe Sample Sized (0.08 oz) – (Buy here)

A gloss in a wide colour range that can create a glass-like finish or a subtle sheen (maccosmetics.com). The Lipglass formula is on the thicker side, but not overly sticky, and leaves lips looking ultra shiny. I personally enjoy the sweet vanilla scent. C Thru is a pale, milky, peachy nude that is sheer on its own so it doesn’t wash me out, but I like layering it over a darker nude lipliner or lipstick.

Sahi Cream Metallic Foil Eyeshadow in Dubai – Full Sized (0.07 oz) – Retail Price $22 – (Buy here)

A metallic foil eyeshadow unlike any other. Designed specifically for color payoff on all skin tones, these shades are inspired by the most exotic cities across the globe. Metallic crushed pearls leave a foiled effect on the eyelids, creating a beautiful sparkle (sahicosmetics.com). This foil shadow has the same plush texture as Colourpop’s Super Shock Shadows, but lacking the opaque color payoff. Dubai is a gorgeous flattering, rose gold shade. The large chunks of glitter, while beautiful, can apply a little patchy on the eyes, even when I’m packing it on with my fingers. I recommend this as an eyeshadow topper, as opposed to using it on its own. I do give props that it doesn’t have a lot of fall out despite its glitter element.

Beauty For Real I-Line 24-7 Eyeliner in Whiskey – Full Sized – Retail Price $14 – (Buy here)

This gel eyeliner wins the award for the smoothest glide and longest wear. You’ll experience a gel glide eyeliner with the easy application of a pencil. Pigment rich shades make a statement, with instant color payoff (beautyforreal.com). The formula of this twist up eyeliner is creamy and pigmented, gliding easily over my bottom lash line. It doesn’t last as long as my pot gel eyeliners, but pencil liners rarely do for me. Whiskey is a lovely coppery brown that is a lot less harsh than black eyeliner, making it perfect for daytime wear.

Pixi Glow Tonic Exfoliating Toner – Deluxe Sample Sized (0.5 fl oz) – (Buy here)

The Pixi Glow Tonic is highly concentrated, invigorating facial toner that deeply cleans pores by sweeping away excess oil and impurities (pixibeauty.com). I’ve only tried this toner twice, so I can’t vouch for its long term effects, but so far, so good. It has a very light scent that doesn’t bother me, the alcohol-free formula doesn’t dry out my skin, and I can see from the cotton pad that it noticeably removed impurities after my cleansing routine. This was my first time trying any skincare products from Pixi and I would totally give the full sized a try.

Verb Sea Texture Cream – Sample Sized (0.25 fl oz) – (Buy here)

Sea Texture Cream refreshes hair to create instant volume with touchable hold. It works on clean hair or to refresh second or third day waves. Sea Texture Cream is your go-to to add texture, volume, or amplify any style—short or long (sephora.com). Full disclosure, I never use texturizing creams so I’m not sure I even used this correctly 😅 I added a small amount of cream to the ends of my naturally wavy hair and did not see much of an overall difference. My hair did not have more volume, softness, or texture, but it did smell really clean, like fresh laundry.

Overall Rating: I was fairly happy with June’s Glam Bag so I give this month a rating of 7/10 stars, based on my first impressions. The product selection didn’t initially wow me, but neither was it the worst bag yet. This month’s bag included 2 full sized items with a retail value of about $36, and a deluxe MAC Lipglass, so the value was there. My favorite picks of the bunch are easily the MAC Lipgloss and Pixi Toner.
