Ipsy February 2018 Glam Bag Unboxing and First Impressions

Happy Sunday, loves!  Today, we will be going over the contents of February’s Ipsy Glam Bag!  You can find my January Ipsy Glam Bag here.  Ipsy is a beauty subscription service that provides 5-6 sample/full-sized items for $10/month.  What I like about Ipsy is that the price encompasses shipping, and it regularly includes full sized products in a cute cosmetics bag (sign up here).Ipsy February 2018 Glam Bag Unboxing and First ImpressionsFebruary’s theme is Unzipped and comes with 6 products in this nude and black lace pouch.Ipsy February 2018 Glam Bag Unboxing and First Impressions

  1. Biobelle #Primer Tencel Mask – Full Sized x 2 – Retail Price $4.99 x 2 – (Buy here)

Biobelle #Primer Tencel MaskUsing our unique botanic fiber Tencel, we have designed a new primer sheet mask that boosts facial texture, minimizes pores and evens skin tone while prepping the skin for a flawless makeup application (biobellecosmetics.com).  I’ve received these Biobelle sheet masks before in a previous Boxycharm (blogpost here) so I was rather disappointed to see a repeat item.  Still, I gave these a try as the makeup primer aspect intrigued me.  I was surprised that directions say to rinse after applying the mask for 5 minutes since I’m used to patting in all the nourishing essence into the skin for maximum absorption, plus this is meant to be a primer.  The mask felt moisturizing and cooling while I had it on, but I didn’t see a huge difference in my overall makeup look.  The concept is cool, but for me personally, I just know I can’t be bothered with yet another extra step before makeup application.

  1. Trestique Mini Eye Pencil in Swiss Chocolate – Deluxe Sample Sized (0.008 oz) – Retail Price $10 – (Buy here)

Trestique Mini Eye Pencil in Swiss Chocolate16-hour wear and intense, instant color! Snap the cap into place to lengthen the Mini Eye Pencil into a full length for easy lining. Glides on like a liquid but provides pencil precision. Transfer-proof & water-resistant (trestique.com).  The formula is creamy, and even though it doesn’t last long on my waterline, I give Trestique props for innovation.  The eyeliner can be interchangeable from a mini into a full length, perfect for throwing in your purse.  The dark brown shade is a nice change from the standard black, but also wearable.Trestique Mini Eye Pencil in Swiss Chocolate

  1. Luxie Blending and Shading 249 Brush – Full Sized – (Buy here)

Luxie Blending and Shading 249 BrushThis ipster-exclusive, double-sided beauty is tapered on one end (for packing down your powder shadows) and fluffy on the flip side (for oh-so-easy blending (ipsy.com).  I don’t reach for dual ended brushes everyday as I have a hard time storing them in my cups without damaging the bristles, but I really enjoy them when I’m traveling.  The dual purposes saves space and lays flat in my brush kit.  The fluffy end works great for blending darker shadows near the lash line while the flat side works great for laying down color in the center of the lids.

  1. Pur Fully Charged Mascara – Deluxe Sample Sized (0.14 fl oz) – (Buy here)

Pur Fully Charged MascaraOpposites attract with this anti-aging mascara that has a “magnetic” polymer matrix that wraps a positively charged elastic veil around each lash to instantly lift, separate and define each lash for long-lasting performance (purcosmetics.com).  This mascara formula is pitch black, while the bristles gives lashes a separated look.  This may work for those blessed with naturally thick or long lashes, but for myself, they did not give enough volume or definition.  Unfortunately, this is a pass for me.

  1. Trust Fund Beauty Nail Polish in Wine O’Clock – Full Sized (0.50 fl oz) – (Buy here)

Trust Fund Beauty Nail Polish in Wine O'ClockUltra-opaque…Insanely shiny…Unbelievably chip-resistant. You’re not gonna find a better polish out there (ipsy.com).   I generally enjoy Trust Fund Beauty’s nail polishes.  Their flat brush easily conforms to the nail, applying even layers of color, and the formula is opaque after two coats.  This deep merlot shade is gorgeous.

Overall Rating:  I am rather disappointed with February’s Glam Bag so I give this month a rating of 5/10 stars, based on my first impressions.  Since 2 sheet masks were included, there was technically 6 items instead of the usual 5, so the value is there.  Still, none of the products excited me, even when I initially opened the bag.  Everything from the cheap looking pouch to the boring product selection was just lackluster to me.  I’m holding my breath that next month’s bag makes up for this dud.

What did you receive in your February Ipsy Glam Bag?  Which products are you most excited to test out?

XO,

Mary Dee

That nude bag looks gorgeous. But I know if I got is, it would get in just a few days hahaha 😀 I’ve been seeing a lot IG- beauty girls using those Biobelle masks before applying makeup. But let’s be honest will the majority even have the to do just that? I would probably only use it if I was attending a important event, and had a long time to do my makeup 🙂

What are your thoughts? I would love to hear from you :)
