MAKEUP

May Monthly Makeup Empties and ReviewsELF Makeup Mist and Set: Another month, another ELF setting spray!  It hydrates, melts powders into my skin, locks in my makeup all day, and is super affordable.  I’ve already stocked up on the larger 4.1 oz bottle ELF now carries.

Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner in Black: While the formula was pitch black, I didn’t find the tip as precise as I’d like for creating a sharp wing.  This felt tip liner, like all the others, just dried up too quickly for my liking so I will not be repurchasing

Essence Super Precise Eyeliner:  This liquid liner, on the other hand, I would happily repurchase.  This has a super fine brush tip that makes it a breeze to create the sharpest wing yet.  The formula is pitch black, dries matte, and long-lasting, though not completely waterproof.  For the price, it can’t be beat.

LA Girl Shady Slim Brow Pencil in Brunette: Brunette is a cool toned brown shade that works great with my coloring.  The ultra slim tip makes it easy to draw precise strokes, while the spoolie blends the product out perfectly, and the formula lasts all day.  This is a fabulous affordable alternative to the ABH Brow Whiz.

Butter London Double Decker Lashes Mascara: This mascara is for those craving thick, va-va-voom lashes.  It doesn’t curl my stubbornly straight lashes, but it quickly builds volume to my wimpy lashes without weighing them down.  The mascara wand is on the larger side so I can only use it on my upper lashes, but the formula is excellent.  This is one of my top 5 favorite mascaras at the moment (blogpost here) so you know I will be picking up another.

SKINCARE

May Monthly Skincare Empties and ReviewsGlow Recipe Watermelon Glow Jelly Sheet Mask:  This watermelon sheet mask was my first introduction to Glow Recipe, courtesy of the Skincare Boxycharm.  The jelly mask left my skin feeling hydrated, but it really slid around my face during the treatment so that limited my movement 😂  I enjoyed the refreshing mask, but did not see enough of an improvement to my skin to warrant a purchase.

It Cosmetics Confidence in an Eye Cream:  This eye cream is just as thick and hydrating as their daily moisturizer, which I love.  I didn’t see major improvements to my eye area, but it made for a nice base before makeup application so no complaints here.

Biore Charcoal Micellar Water: I received this sample in a Walmart Beauty Box and it performed well enough removing my face makeup, though it struggled with stubborn eye makeup.  I still prefer the Garnier Micellar Water over this every day of the week, so this is a pass for me.

Benton Snail Bee High Content Essence: I’ve heard great things about this snail essence, so I was excited to put it to the test.  The milky (gooey?) texture added an extra layer of moisture, which I appreciated, but I did not see enough of an improvement to my overall skin texture.  I think this is a nice, affordable essence, but I look forward to trying new ones.

The Ordinary Azelaic Acid Suspension 10%: This has the same silicone feel of a foundation primer, creating a smooth film over the skin.  I found that if I rubbed it in too well, it pilled on me, so I recommend using a gentle patting motion and letting it absorb on its own.  I haven’t seen any notable improvement to my hyperpigmentation so I wouldn’t repurchase.

Philosophy The Microdelivery Daily Exfoliating Facial Wash: The Philosophy Purity Made Simple Cleanser is my holy grail face wash, so I thought I’d try this as well.  This is a very gentle exfoliator, though I would not recommend using it daily, especially if you have dry skin like myself.  The microbeads did a great job removing dead skin cells to reveal baby soft skin, without stripping it of moisture.  Overall, I enjoyed this and would repurchase.

HAIRCARE

May Monthly Haircare Empties and ReviewsOGX Renewing Argan Oil and Morocco: I love hair oils for adding moisture back to my strands.  I apply a generous amount of this to the ends of my damp hair and I can feel it instantly softening my hair and making it more manageable.  I already have a backup ready to go.

Redken Triple Take Hairspray:  This hairspray has traveled with me on quite a few trips and the bottle has lasted me forever.  It gives extra strong hold for my updos to withstand heat and humidity.  I don’t always spring for salon products, but this hairspray is actually worth it, in my opinion.

BODYCARE

May Monthly Bodycare Empties and ReviewsThe Body Shop Banana Body Yogurt:  This body lotion absorbs quickly and feels lightweight on the skin.  I generally prefer thicker body butters and moisturizers, but I can overlook that because this body lotion smells incredible.  Come to think of it, this has the same texture and scent as strawberry banana yogurt 😍 The yummy fragrance always puts me in a good mood and I already have backups.

Have you tried any of these products?  How did they work for you?

Mary Dee
