Boxycharm April 2019 Unboxing and First Impressions

Happy Monday!  Today, I’m back at it again with a review of April’s Boxycharm!  You can find my review on February’s Boxycharm here.  I upgraded to BoxyLuxe for the month of March, which I will be reviewing and uploading soon!  Boxycharm is my favorite beauty subscription box that provides 5-6 full-sized items for $21/month.  What I love about Boxycharm is that the value of all the luxury products always well exceed the $21 price (sign up here).

April’s theme is Peace, Love, Boxy and comes with 5 products.Boxycharm April 2019 Unboxing and First Impressions

  1. Pur Cosmetics Festival Palette – $36 (Buy here)

Pur Cosmetics Festival PaletteShow off your individuality and complete your look with this limited-edition, Festival 12-Piece Pressed Pigment Palette, containing Blue Light Defense, and created in collaboration with the #1 beauty subscription box—BOXYCHARM (purcosmetics.com).  I do not need another eyeshadow palette so I was ready to gift this to a friend, but the fun, festival packaging totally sucked me in 🙈 I love the mix of neutral shades with pops of bright color, but what really excited me were the two pressed glitters.  All the eyeshadows have a creamy formula, but I’ve found the mattes to be more pigmented than the shimmers.  As for the glitters, they have a high impact look on the eyes, but there is a fair amount of fallout, making them more difficult to work with than the Stila or Flower Beauty Liquid Glitters.  That said, I do enjoy this palette as it was more unique than the typical Pur Palettes I’ve received in previous boxes.Pur Cosmetics Festival PalettePur Cosmetics Festival PalettePur Cosmetics Festival Palette Swatches

  1. Artist Couture Diamond Glow Powder in Purple Dream  – $27 (Buy here)

Artist Couture Diamond Glow Powder in Purple DreamInspired by festival season, this shade has a light peach base with a magenta/purple duo chrome shift. It is an all natural, finely milled loose powder safe to use on the face, eyes, lips and body (artistcouture.com).  The Diamond Glow Powders are one of my favorite highlighters, loose or pressed, ever so I am stoked to receive another shade.  Purple Dream is a peach shade with a purple shift so admittedly, it is not the most wearable for everyday, particularly if you have fair to light skin.  With my golden tan skintone, the purple sheen is subtle once blended out (pictured below).  The formula itself is just as finely milled, glowy, and gorgeous as their more natural shades.Artist Couture Diamond Glow Powder in Purple DreamArtist Couture Diamond Glow Powder in Purple Dream Swatches

  1. Luscious Angel Eyes Primer – $14 (Buy Here)

Luscious Angel Eyes PrimerA smooth, lightweight, and matte formula that creates the perfect canvas for long lasting eye makeup application. Angel Eyes Primer glides onto eyelids without dragging and acts like a magnet for eye shadow and eyeliner, ensuring true and vibrant color results that stay in place without creasing (iloveluscious.com).  I’ve always used a concealer and setting powder as my eyeshadow primer, but I’m so glad I gave this a go!  This creamy base acts just like a medium-toned high coverage concealer, concealing the redness/veins on my eyelids while really clinging onto eyeshadow for extra staying power.  A little of this goes a long way (I found out the first time), so this tube will last me for quite some time.

  1. Appeal Cosmetics Holographic Lip Gloss in Posh – $21 (Buy Here)

Appeal Cosmetics Holographic Lip Gloss in PoshThe Holographic Lip Gloss works well alone or on top of your favorite lippie, giving it a multidimensional, argan oil infused shine (appealcosmetics.com).  I am not a fan of metallic lips, so I was disappointed to receive a holographic lipgloss, even if the packaging looks awesome.  But I was excited to find that the shimmers are very subtle and not full on metallic.  Instead, the shimmery clear gloss just captures more light, making lips look extra plump and juicy.  That’s a look I can get behind.Appeal Cosmetics Holographic Lip Gloss in Posh

  1. Luxie Summer Daze Brush Set – $28 (Buy Here)

Luxie Summer Daze Brush SetIntroducing our Summer Daze Collection this festival season! This fun 3 piece set is all you need to unleash your makeup creativity. Apply your favorite glitter and shadows with our Luxie 245 and Luxie 209. Finish that up with applying your favorite blush and bronzer with the Luxie 512 (luxiebeauty.com).  I LOVE Luxie Brushes so I’m glad to receive more, even if these are repeats in my collection 😉  The Small Contouring brush is my go-to for applying my eyeshadow base, the Large Shader brush is used to pat eyeshadow onto the lids, while the Small Shader brush is pointed enough to precisely apply shimmers and glitters on the center of the lid.

Overall Rating: I was pleasantly impressed with April’s Boxycharm so I’m giving it a rating of 10/10 stars.  April’s box has a combined value of $126, and even though there were products I was initially ready to pass on, they came through and surprised me with their performance.  My favorite picks of the batch are the Luxie Brushes and Artist Couture Diamond Glow Powder.

Did you enjoy your Boxycharm?  Which products are you most excited to test out?

XO,

Mary Dee
