Play! by Sephora June 2017 Unboxing and First Impressions

Happy Friday, everyone! Today, we are reviewing my Sephora Play! sample box for June 2017 ? You can find my review of last month’s Play! box here. Play! is Sephora’s subscription service that provides 5 beauty samples plus 1 fragrance sample for $10/month (plus local taxes).

June’s theme is Your Summer Starters and the Play! Bag comes with 6 products in a cute, swimmers pouch.As usual, it includes an insert with product descriptions/ directions and a Play! Pass, redeemable in Sephora stores for 50 extra Beauty Insider points with any purchase.

Murad Invisiblur Perfecting Shield – Deluxe Sample Sized (0.17 fl oz)

A weightless primer-meets-sunscreen evens texture, smooths fine lines, and creates a perfect canvas for makeup (insert). This clear gel has a silicone texture, much like the classic Smashbox Photo Finish Primer. It adds a smooth layer over the skin, but I don’t really see it blurring or filling my pores enough to be a solid foundation primer. I like it solely as a very lightweight, non-oily sunscreen.

Tarte Tarteguard 20 Tinted Moisture in Medium – Deluxe Sample Sized (0.25 fl oz)

Tinted moisturizer with broad spectrum SPF 20 delivers lightweight coverage while hydrating with antioxidants (insert). I was so excited to try this TarteGuard, but unfortunately, the shade Medium was too light for me, making me look ashy and washed out ? I would give this another try in the right shade. This provides very light coverage and is essentially a tinted sunscreen.

Briogeo Curl Charisma Rice Amino + Avocado Leave-In Defining Creme – Deluxe Sample Sized (0.75 fl oz)

Moisturizing and frizz-fighting styling cream packed with amino acids enhances, shapes, and defines curls (insert). I have always enjoyed the Brigeo products I’ve received in my subscription boxes. This smells so good and feels very lightweight on, but I didn’t see much curl/wave definition after use. I’m giving it the benefit of the doubt however, since it was not intended for my hair type, which is fine and slightly wavy. It is marketed towards curly hair types so this may work for those with curls 🙂

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in K-Dub – Deluxe Sized (0.10 fl oz)

Long-lasting, high-pigmented liquid lipstick with a creamy formula glides on smoothly like gloss, but leaves a matte finish (insert). I enjoy the formula of Kat Von D Liquid Lipsticks. This has a mousse-like texture that applied smoothly, coating the lips evenly with one coat. Once this set, it was completely budge- and transfer-proof, but did not feel uncomfortably dry at all. This purple-pink shade is beautiful, but it is bright and not for the faint of heart. It will grab attention ;)

Bumble and Bumble Don’t Blow It Hair Styler – Deluxe Sample Sized (0.5 fl oz)

Innovative hair styling cream enhances natural texture and conditions strands for a polished look without a blow dryer (insert). I applied a quarter size amount of this through my wet hair before bedtime and woke up with noticeably, defined waves. It gives you that texture that you get after spending a day at the beach. I love this for quick, easy, air-dry hair styling.

Thierry Mugler Alien Eau de Parfum – Sample Sized (0.05 fl oz)

A dark, daring, and romantic scent that contains notes of spicy chai tea with sweet floral (insert). This is a beautiful, warm floral with woodsy notes that makes it dark, but not too heavy. I would rock this during the summer nights, or even during the day in the colder months.

Overall Rating: I was very satisfied with June’s Sephora Play! Bag so I award it a rating of 8/10 stars based on my first impressions. I was pleased with the product selection that works perfectly for our warm summers. If I could change one thing, it would be to include another makeup product rather than two hair products. Adding a highlighter or another lippie would have garnered 10/10 stars 😉 My favorite picks of the batch are the Murad Invisiblur Perfect Shield and Kat Von D Liquid Lipstick.
