My Top 10 Makeup Products for a Beach/Pool Day

My Top 10 Makeup Products for a Beach/Pool Day

Hi loves!  Summer has finally descended upon us and with that comes warmer weather, breathtaking sunsets, and epic beach and pool days!  Lounging by the California surfs or swimming in the turquoise seas of the Caribbean are my ideas of a perfect summer day.  As a total beach bum, I have gotten down my beauty essentials for a long day at the beach.  Today, I will be sharing with you my top 10 beauty products for a quick, easy Pool/Beach Day Makeup Look.  These are the budge-proof products I rely on when the weather heats up.  They have even been tested in the hot, humid tropical climates of the Caribbean where I love to vacation.  I hope you enjoy!

1. Missha All Around Safe Block Essence Sun SPF45 ($14, 50 ml, MisshaUS.com)

My number one essential is hands-down, sun protection.  This is my favorite facial sunblock ever! I love that this has a light, pleasant scent and doesn’t feel oily at all (my two biggest pet peeves about sunblock).  It is lightweight, absorbs quickly into the skin, and doesn’t leave a white cast.

2. Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream SPF42 ($22, 50 ml, MisshaUS.com)

When the temperature climbs,  the last thing I want to do is pile on heavy foundations.  I rely on this amazing BB cream every day in the summer when I want medium coverage without the cakiness.  This provides an additional level of sun protection, evens the overall skin tone, and offers amazing skin benefits such as anti wrinkle and brightening dark spots.  This is also the only Korean BB Cream that even comes close to matching my golden tan skin tone.  I wish these skincare companies would expand their shade ranges to accommodate a wider audience.  I wear shade #31 Golden Beige, which is the darkest shade they offer.

3. L.A. Girl Pro Conceal HD Concealer ($2.99, 0.25 oz, walgreens.com)

My Shade: Medium Beige

This was my go-to concealer when I was vacationing in Costa Rica.  This super affordable concealer comes in a wide range of shades/tones, provides great coverage, blends well under the eyes, and stood up to the tropical heat.

4. Wet n Wild MegaGlo Contouring Palette in Caramel Toffee ($4.99, 0.44 oz, Walgreens)

The packaging is so travel friendly as it is sleek and packs two products in one. I love using the yellow powder to set my undereye concealer and really lock it in. I sweep the bronzer shade in the eyelid crease for definition and along the forehead and cheekbones for a soft contour. The powder is so smooth to the touch and blends like a dream.  Because it is so soft, there is quite a bit of fallout when dipping your brushes in it, but I personally don’t mind that much.  I would recommend the Dulce de Leche shade for lighter skin tones and Caramel Toffee (pictured) for medium to tanned skin tones.

5. Anastasia Glow Kit in That Glow ($40,  oz, Ulta/Sephora)

This sleek compact comes with 4 warm shades of super pigmented highlight powders.  You can rock whichever color fits your mood or custom mix your perfect shade.  These are so smooth and finely milled, imparting a stunning sheen without a hint of glitter.  My favorite shades are Bubbly, a rose champagne, and Dripping In Gold, a reflective gold.

6. Covergirl The Super Sizer Waterproof Mascara ($6.99, 0.40 oz, Ulta)

The unique brush separates the lashes, holds a curl (no easy task for my short, straight, downward-facing lashes), and does not smudge through dips in the ocean. This is definitely one of my favorite mascaras!

7. Wet n Wild H20 Proof Liquid Eyeliner ($2.99, 0.12 oz, Walgreens)

This is an amazing liquid eyeliner at such a steal!  The handle and pointed brush are very easy to maneuver and to create the perfect wing.  The formula glides on so smoothly, dries to a matte, pitch-black finish, and withstood Costa Rica’s heat.  I haven’t touched my gel eyeliner since!

8. Maybelline Baby Lips Lip Balm in Quenched ($4.49, 0.14 oz, Ulta)

The delicate skin on your lips should be protected from the sun as well.  This smooth balm has an SPF 20, glides on smoothly, and smells great!  Doesn’t the cute, bright packaging just scream “summer”, too?!

9. Milani Cosmetics Amore Matte Lip Crème in Adorable ($6.99, 0.40 oz, Ulta)

At the pool/beach, I prefer liquid lipstick to creamy lipsticks or glosses, as I don’t want my hair sticking to my lips or having to worry about smearing throughout the day.  This liquid formula glides on super pigmented with just one layer, dries to a true matte finish, and wears very comfortably.  Additionally, the flat applicator conforms nicely to shape out the lips and these lip crèmes smells like cake batter  (YUMMM!).  Adorable is the perfect nude shade for my golden-tan skin tone.

10. E.L.F. Makeup Mist & Set ($3, 2.02 oz, Target)

This is my favorite affordable setting spray. I use this everyday after applying my makeup to even out the skin when I’ve overpowdered and to impart a dewy finish. I can’t compare it to a higher end spray, but I do feel that it extends the wear time and vibrancy of my makeup as opposed to no setting spray at all. Additionally, spritzing this feels so refreshing, especially in those hot summer days.

I would love to hear your favorite beauty products!  What are your summer time essentials?

XO,

Mary Dee
