January Monthly Empties and Reviews

Happy Friday, loves!  I hope you all had a wonderful week!  Today we will be going over the first Monthly Empties of 2017.  I wanted to get this post up in early February, but with the apartment move, there was just no time unfortunately.  Thank you so much for hanging tight through this time 🙂  Now, let’s dive into January’s Empties!

E.L.F. Makeup Mist & Set:  I have gone through numerous bottles of these as this is my favorite drugstore makeup setting spray, ever!  This mist extends the longevity of my makeup while smoothing out my skin when I’ve over-powdered.  This was also in my previous months’ empties and I am sure this won’t be the last time you see it.

Garnier BB Cream in Medium/ Deep:  This was my first introduction to BB Creams and I was pleasantly impressed with the formula.  I didn’t see much improvement in my skin after usage like I do with my holy grail Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream, but this tinted lotion provided buildable light to medium coverage with a lovely, dewy finish.  This is a nice drugstore BB Cream if you are looking for affordability and easy accessibility.

Maybelline Lash Discovery Mascara:  The teeny tiny brush really grabs those shorter, hard-to-reach lashes, elongating and lengthening them.  The formula is pitch black, dries quickly, and doesn’t smudge or irritate my eyes.  The waterproof version is particularly great for those shorter lower lashes.

Maybelline The Colossal Volume Express Mascara:  This brush is thick, quickly building volume with each coat.  This does make the lashes clumpy with repeated application, but I personally don’t mind.  I enjoyed this mascara, but won’t be repurchasing as I want to try new formulas from different brands.

NYX Butter Gloss in Creme Brulee:  This is one of my favorite lipglosses, and such a steal for under $5!  The formula of the Butter Glosses are so creamy, shiny, yet not at all sticky.  Creme Brulee is a flattering nude that stands strong on its own, but looks great over a lipstick.  I have backups upon backups of this shade.

Garnier Skinactive Micellar Cleansing Water:  This was the first micellar water I’ve ever tested and I totally understand the obsession with cleansing waters.  I like to use this on a cotton round to remove stubborn eye makeup, left over after my cleansing wipes.  In the past, I’ve applied this all over my face and it takes off EVERYTHING, from foundation to waterproof mascara.  This magical elixir is amazing.  This is a holy grail item that I will continue to repurchase.

Acquacures Botanicures Fango :  My girlfriend hooked me up with this brand when she was working in a spa and this was my favorite product from their line.  It is essentially a seaweed mask/exfoliator that looks (dark green goop) and smells (herb-y) terrible, but makes your skin bright, smooth, and baby soft after you rinse it out.  I loved how this made my skin feel, but I would not repurchase as I’m working through my skincare stash.

Indie Lee C0Q-10 Toner:  I received this spray in an Ipsy bag and instantly fell in love with it.  The toner smells just like a spa and feels so fabulous every time I used it.  The nozzle dispenses a fine mist and feels so refreshing before I apply my moisturizer.  I love the packaging so much I will be refilling it with my facial mists for taking it on the go.

ELF Makeup Remover Cleansing Cloths:   I like the sleek matte packaging and the cloths have a pleasant floral scent, while doing a good job of removing face makeup (foundation, concealer, blush, etc).  I still have to use some Garnier Micellar Water on a cotton pad to remove stubborn waterproof mascara as usual.  These ELF ones are quite comparable in terms of performance with my beloved Costco wipes.

Kirkland Daily Facial Towelettes:   You can’t beat the value of these Costco Makeup Remover Wipes.  They are so cheap, yet I like these way more than the cult favorite Neutrogena Wipes, which I found left a filmy residue on my skin.  These are my current favorite makeup wipes and I will continue to repurchase.

BODYCARE20170211_115138

Olay Quench Body Lotion:   This is a lightweight moisturizer with a nice, fresh scent.  I enjoyed the product while it lasted, but will unlikely repurchase as I prefer a thicker body lotion.

The Body Shop Vineyard Peach Body Butter:   The Body Shop has the most divine smelling products and this is no exception.  This smells just like a garden of fresh, ripe peaches and it was such a joy to use every time.  For a body butter, I don’t feel it was ultra moisturizing, but it smells so, so good, I would happily repurchase.

Thank you again for bearing with me through this move and hope to see you in my next blogpost 🙂

Have you tried any of these products?  What are your January Empties?
