Ipsy October 2017 Glam Bag Unboxing and First Impressions

Hiii dolls, I’m baaack! ?  It has been far too long and I have missed y’all and blogging so much!  Thank you for bearing with me through the past month.  I was out of the country for two weeks, immediately followed by the move from California to Arizona.  The move has been insanely busy and stressful at times, but things are slowly falling into place.  I hope to be back to my regular blogging schedule in November? I am trying to catch up on all the beauty subscriptions so today, I’ll be starting with October’s Ipsy Glam Bag!  You can find my September Ipsy Glam Bag here.  Ipsy is a beauty subscription service that provides 5-6 sample/full-sized items for $10/month.  What I like about Ipsy is that the price encompasses shipping, and it regularly includes full sized products in a cute cosmetics bag (sign up here).

October’s theme is Spellbound and comes with 5 products in this burgundy lace patterned pouch.Ipsy October 2017 Glam Bag Unboxing and First Impressions

  1. Rimmel London Kate Moss Lipstick in #47– Full Sized (0.14 oz) – Retail Price $6 – (walmart.com)

Rimmel London Kate Moss Lipstick in #47Nude shades that are chic, stylish and sophisticated (rimmellondon.com).  I adore the Rimmel Lipstick Collections with Kate Moss.  They have always been very consistent in quality and is one of my favorite lipsticks from the drugstore.  The formula is so creamy, pigmented, and glides on the lips like a dream.  I dig the chic packaging of this Nude collection and #47 is a lovely terracotta shade that would look beautiful through the fall months.  As an added bonus, I can’t pinpoint the unique scent, but these lippies smell good ? 1. Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Perversion – Deluxe Sample Sized (0.03 oz) – (ulta.com)

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in PerversionCreamy, long-lasting, award-winning AND waterproof, 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil is the best eye pencil ever, ever, ever! Urban Decay’s velvety-soft 24/7 formula stays creamy for blending (about 30 seconds), then dries down to a long-lasting finish that will not budge (ulta.com).  I love Urban Decay’s 24/7 eyeliners and own quite a few shades.  The formula is pigmented, creamy, glides on easily, and lasts a decent amount of time on the bottom lashline (I’ve yet to find a cream eyeliner that truly lasts all day).  Perversion is a pitch black shade that glides effortlessly onto the waterline and can be easily smoked out.

  1. BeBio Nail Lacquer in Scarlet – Full Sized (0.5 fl oz) – Retail Price $12 –  (shopbioseaweedgel.com)

BeBio Nail Lacquer in ScarletThis long-wear polish isn’t actually made with the stuff—but it’s super nourishing and will stay on your nails for like, half a season of GoT.  This baby is totally five-free… Basically, it means there are no ingredients that can weaken or damage your nails (ipsy.com).  The application was easy, with opaque color after three solid coats.  However, I was disappointed to find that this polish started chipping within a day (with light housework) 🙁  The longevity left much to be desired, which is a shame because the scarlet shade is totally gorgeous.

  1. Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara – Deluxe Sample Sized (0.10 fl oz) – (ulta.com)

Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes MascaraA lengthening, curling, volumizing, and conditioning mascara infused with olive esters to condition, treat, and protect lashes (ulta.com).  This is one of my favorite mascara so I was happy to receive another sample.  The simple brush is the perfect size for grabbing all the smaller lashes on the inner corners and bottom lashline.  The formula lengthens and volumizes, but doesn’t clump despite applying multiple coats.  Lashes are defined, yet remain separated ?

  1. Marc Anthony Hydrating Coconut Oil & Shea Butter – Deluxe Sample Sized (0.7 fl oz) – (ulta.com)

Marc Anthony Hydrating Coconut Oil and Shea ButterMarc Anthony Hydrating Coconut Oil & Shea Butter Treatment is a lightweight Oil Treatment that penetrates the cuticle to help nourish and hydrate your hair leaving it smoother and shinier.  It protects from splitting and breaking, allowing hair to grow longer, faster (ulta.com).  This was my first time trying the Marc Anthony brand, and I was pleasantly impressed.  The oil added shine, improved the manageability of my hair as it air-dried, and didn’t weigh it down.  On a minor note, I typically love coconut-scented products, but this smells rather heavy and artificial than fresh coconuts.

Overall Rating:  I was pretty happy with October’s Glam Bag so I give this month a rating of 8/10 stars, based on my first impressions.  Other than the disappointing performance of the nail polish, I quite enjoyed the overall product selection and everything else worked out wonderfully.  My favorite picks of the batch are the Rimmel Kate Nude Lipstick and Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara.

What did you receive in your October Ipsy Glam Bag?  Which products are you most excited to test out?

XO,

Mary Dee
