Favorite Beauty Products of 2017: Lips Edition

Hello, all and welcome to the final installment in my Favorite Beauty Products of 2017 series!  You can find the blogposts on my Favorite Makeup Brushes here , Favorite Face Makeup here , and Favorite Eye Makeup here.  These Favorites lists include pretty much any products I couldn’t put down in 2017 and that I would wholly recommend. Today, I will be going through my favorite lip products, with everything ranging from lipliners, to lipsticks, and lipglosses!Favorite Lip Products of 2017

LIP SCRUB

ELF Lip ExfoliatorE.L.F. Lip Exfoliators: This is an ELF Holy Grail product I keep repurchasing over and over again.  I love the convenient lipstick bullet packaging of the lip scrub as opposed to standard jars where there is the hassle of scooping the product out with your fingers.  I use this product daily before applying other lip products.  My favorite flavors are Rose and Pink Grapefruit.

LIP BALM

Smith's Rosebud Lip BalmsSmith’s Rosebud Lip Balms: I get these lip balms in a trio from Ulta (buy here), which comes with different three flavors: Rosebud Salve, Minted Rose, and Rose & Mandarin.  The vintage packaging is adorable while the tube is convenient for packing on the go.  The lip balm is ultra moisturizing without being sticky and adds a protective layer before liquid lipstick application.  It makes even my driest liquid lipstick apply easily and smoothly on top.

LIPLINER

Jordana Easyliner Retractable PencilsJordana Easyliner Retractable Pencils: The formula of these lipliners are so creamy, pigmented, and glides on like a dream.  The twist top is very convenient for travel because you don’t need to worry about packing a pencil sharpener.  These come in a range of colors, but my favorite shade is Rock n’ Rose.  This is my perfect nude lipliner and I have backups upon backups of these.Essence LiplinersEssence Lipliners: I made the mistake of leaving these lipliners unattended with my dogs for a hot minute and they decided these were chew sticks.  I apologize for the teeth marks.  I know that they look a little ruff 😅 Like the Jordana Lipliners, these are super affordable and have a creamy, pigmented formula.  They are a close second favorite, only because these are wooden pencils, so they require sharpening.  Other than that, I adore their beautiful shade range.  My favorite shades are In the Nude (go figure) and Satin Mauve.

LIQUID LIPSTICK

Colourpop Ultra Matte LipsColourpop Ultra Matte LipsColourpop Ultra Matte Lips:  Has anyone else noticed that the formula of Colourpop’s Ultra Matte Lips have improved over time?  Their shade selection has always been gorgeous, but I found a lot of their first releases were very drying and/or applied patchy.  The newer shades feel a lot more comfortable on the lips and apply smoothly and opaque.  My favorite shades are Saigon (classic red from the Karrueche Kaepop Collection), Love Bug (rich terracotta), More Better (berry), and Mama (burnt orange).Colourpop Ultra Satin LipsColourpop Ultra Satin LipsColourpop Ultra Satin Lips:  Unlike the Colourpop Ultra Matte Lips, the Satin Lips don’t dry down completely matte and are not transfer proof.  They are more moisturizing and thereby more forgiving to work with.  Still, they last comfortably between meals and have a beautiful shade range.  My favorite shades are Strip (warm nude) and Hutch (blackened violet).
Ofra Long Lasting Liquid LipsticksOfra Long Lasting Liquid LipsticksOfra Long Lasting Liquid Lipsticks:  Ofra makes probably the most comfortable, long-lasting liquid lipstick formula, in my opinion.  The shade range is lovely while the formula is creamy and pigmented.  I mixed Dubai (pale nude) over Pasadena (warm pink) for my perfect nude, which I wore for my beach wedding photos.  It photographed beautifully and never dried out my lips.  I would love to pick up more shades from the range.

CREAM LIPSTICK

Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Mattes LipsticksMaybelline Color Sensational Creamy Mattes Lipsticks: These are easily my favorite matte lipsticks from the drugstore.  The shade range is gorgeous, while the formula is creamy and pigmented.  The lipsticks dry down completely matte and are long-lasting, but they will transfer if you eat or drink.  My favorite shades are Nude Embrace (pale nude) and Siren in Scarlet (classic red).Makeup Revolution Renaissance LipsticksMakeup Revolution Renaissance Lipsticks: I discovered this lipstick in the shade Vow towards the end of 2017, and I haven’t been able to put it down since.  First off, the rose gold packaging is tres chic.  Second, Vow is a stunning warm nude that complements any eye look without washing me out.  The formula is creamy, but not to the point where it moves around.  It saturates the lips in opaque color and has a matte finish that lasts comfortably.  I am obsessed with this nude lipstick 👌

LIPGLOSS

Buxom Full On Lip CreamBuxom Full On Lip Cream: These lip creams give an intense shine that makes your lips look plump and juicy, without ever feeling sticky.  I actually enjoy the slight mint-y tingle, which is not at all uncomfortable, but rather nice and cooling.  My favorite shades are White Russian (pinky nude) and Dolly (mauve).NYX Butter GlossNYX Butter GlossNYX Butter Gloss:  These Butter Glosses are so effortless, that I can easily apply the nude shades without a mirror.  The formula is lightweight, high shine, and feels moisturizing on the lips.  Their pigmentation is on the sheer side, but is buildable to opacity.  My favorite shades are Creme Brûlée, a pinky nude which layers beautifully over other nude lipsticks, and Angel Food Cake, a cool mauve that enhances my natural lip color.

Whew!  Thank you so much for sticking it through with me to the end of the Favorite Products of 2017 series!  I hope you have enjoyed reading along the way 😘 Have you tried any of these products?  What are your favorite lip products?

XO,

Mary Dee
