Boxycharm February 2018 Unboxing and First Impressions

Happy Hump Day, y’all!  Today, I’ll be reviewing the contents of February’s Boxycharm!  You can find my review on January’s Boxycharm here.  Boxycharm is my favorite beauty subscription box that provides 5-6 full-sized items for $21/month.  What I love about Boxycharm is that the value of all the luxury products always well exceed the $21 price.

February’s theme is Galaxy Glow and comes with 5 products.Boxycharm February 2018 Unboxing and First Impressions

  1. Naked Cosmetics Holographic Highlighter Palette – $39.99 (Buy here)

Naked Cosmetics Holographic Highlighter PaletteNaked Cosmetics Holographic Highlighter PaletteWith six stunning holographic shades, this highlighting palette is essential for any makeup enthusiast.  Each iridescent shade is perfect for highlighting and layering to transform any look into something enchanting (excerpt).  This holographic packaging is so cute while the pastel shades inside are mesmerizing.  The formula is fairly creamy and pigmented so if you pack the highlighter on, you will see the distinct blue/green/lavender hues.  Will I be reaching for this palette every single day?  Unlikely, but I still appreciate the unique shades which are a nice change from the standard, albeit more wearable, champagne shades.  I dig it 👌Naked Cosmetics Holographic Highlighter Palette

  1. CoverFX Shimmer Veil in Amethyst – $28 (Buy here)

CoverFX Shimmer Veil in AmethystThese multi-use, shimmering creme colors are crease-proof enough for the boldest eye looks and formulated with a weightless finish for a shimmering effect anywhere on the face.  Suitable for all skin types (excerpt).  This is a beautiful pink duo chrome cream eyeshadow with silver micro glitters.  I like using it for a bright pop of shimmer in the center of the lids, but it would look lovely all over the lids as well.  Be wary there is going to be fall out with the glitter throughout the day.  Also, I find that my felt tip eyeliner tends to pill up over the cream, especially if I have applied a thicker layer.  I recommend using a brush tip liquid liner that glides easily over the glitter or just skipping it all together.CoverFX Shimmer Veil in AmethystCoverFX Shimmer Veil in Amethyst

  1. Vintage Cosmetics Smokey Eye Pencil in Jet Black – $21 (Buy Here)

Vintage Cosmetics Smokey Eye Pencil in Jet BlackJessica’s richly pigmented smokey eye pencil delivers intense jet black definition!  Creating pencil-point precision or smudgy, saturated color, the creamy soft formula glides on lids without tugging or pulling (excerpt).  This is a pretty standard wooden eyeliner pencil.  The formula is creamy, pigmented, and glides easily on my bottom lash line.  It doesn’t last very long in the waterline so I prefer to use this as an eyeshadow base as it can be easily blended out.

  1. Pur X Faux Lips Plumping Lip Exfoliator – $17 (Buy Here)

Pur X Faux Lips Plumping Lip ExfoliatorWith an instant boost of shea butter, raw sugar and exfoliating beads, this 4-in-1 lip scrub pencil exfoliates, plumps, hydrates, and soothes.  Using the shea butter to soften lips, while the raw sugar and exfoliating beads are used to buff away dead surface cells, it moisturizes the lips for a softer, smoother, more plump lip (exerpt).  I love everything about this lip scrub from the chic yet convenient pencil packaging to the moisturizing properties.  I don’t see a difference in lip plumping, but the fine sugars do buff away dryness and prepares the lips for smooth lipstick application.  This is giving my holy grail ELF Lip Exfoliator some major competition.

  1. Crown Pro Trio Brush Set – $29.99 (Buy here)

Crown Pro Trio Brush SetUse this 3 piece Pro Brush Trio to contour your face to perfection!  The small brush can be used to conceal imperfections and highlight unde the eyes.  The medium size brush can be used to sculpt the cheekbones and perimeter of the face.  Finally, the large powder brush can be used to set everything in place (exerpt).  These brushes are well built and feel very soft, while the white and pink bristles are super cute.  My only reserve is that these look identical to the ones from Wet n Wild, and those are a cheaper option.  Other than that, I like using the large brush for contour powders, the medium for blending out undereye concealer, and the small brush for packing eyeshadow on the lids.

Overall Rating:  I am very happy with February’s Boxycharm so I’m giving it a rating of 9/10 stars.  February’s box has a combined value of $135.98 , plus I really enjoyed the well rounded product selection which falls in line with the Galaxy Glow theme.  My favorite picks of the batch are the Cover FX Shimmering Veil and Pur Lip Exfoliator.

Did you enjoy your Boxycharm?  Which products are you most excited to test out?

XO,

Mary Dee
